For this patient, we used a classic Class 2 Div 1 malocclusion CAD design, demonstrating the strategic extraction of upper third molars and the sequential distalisation of all teeth in the arch to attain a Class 1 relationship.
A strategic approach is essential to handle a case like this and in addressing the challenges posed, our team employed a classic ‘V-shape’ staging strategy. This systematic approach enabled the sequential distalisation of all teeth in the upper arch, ensuring a predictable result.
Horizontal bevelled attachments played a pivotal role in the sequential distalisation process, enhancing precision and predictability. To fortify anchorage, buttons were incorporated together with precision cuts, further optimising treatment efficacy.
Recognising the importance of rotational correction, we utilised button auxiliaries to facilitate the rotation of tooth 24. This ensures that each tooth undergoes controlled movement, contributing to the overall success of the treatment.
So, what can we conclude from this case? Exceptionally well-crafted CAD design, strategic distalisation techniques and the judicious use of attachments ALL help to achieve a Class 1 relationship.
